We plant trees! Join and help us

God has cared for these trees, saved them from drought, disease, avalanches, and a thousand tempests and floods. But he cannot save them from fools.
-- John Muir

As thousands of trees have fallen prey to the road widening Project and many fallen illegally by few.Such an act is increasing the temperature in these areas and also take away the much needed shade for vehicle riders. If we dont act now the world will soon be uninhabitable for humans With people dying of drought, floods, heat waves, etc
“The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second best time is now.”

Let's Integrate For Environement and do our Bit.

LIFE has decided to plant 1,00,000 trees in and around Bengaluru between June-December every year and help provide safe habitat for our birds.
Species of trees chosen by us will be Big trees on which birds can nest or trees which provide fruits to birds

Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realise we cannot eat money. ~Cree Indian Proverb

Here’s how companies can help.
1. Encourage your employees to adopt one tree by paying Rs. 100 towards one tree, as their contribution. Employees can actively involve themselves in– identify areas to plant trees, help us in creating awareness, dirty there hands and plant trees, help maintain them till they grow, etc.
2. We request companies to come forward and take responsibility for planting and maintaining the trees in their campus.

Here’s how an individual can help.
1. Adopt a tree:-Trees are not given by forest department or BBMP for free though the rates are subsidized. Please help us by adopting a tree by paying 100 rupees that will be used for purchasing saplings, transporting them to the venue, purchasing organic manure, watering the plants for 3 summers. We let you know where we have planted tree sponsored by you.
2. Volunteer with our trust:- You can be a member by just sending an e-mail, joining our google group.Participate in our events.
3. Donate:-No donation is too small.
Please note:-Trust is run by core members who are working professionals from various background.100 percent of the funds are used for community services.
4.Offer your land for tree plantation
School, college, companies, or individuals can contact us for tree plantation. We are happy to plant trees at your place too.We do not encourage planting trees for commercial purpose like eucalyptus, teak etc.

Dos and Don't in LIFE:-
1)"Monocultures are ecological deserts. Tree plantation will not create a forests."
It could be that most people do not realise that the planting trees of a single species, termed as mono-culture, is harmful.
2)We plant only native tree species.

The Date/Time/Venue of tree planting events will be communicated to all. Those who donate towards this initiative will be informed about how and where their donations were used. Companies will be listed with LIFE as Friends of LIFE

People who will not sustain trees will soon live in a world which cannot sustain people.

Green Wedding

Shiv shankar and his brother, Dayal Bapu B N run an NGO named Mukthidhama, which has created a tree memorial for war heroes and famous personalities. This time he planned his younger brother Dayal Bapu wedding to be different and to help Bangalore to make greener a bit.
For the wedding of Dayal Bapu B N was an effort to build eco-consciousness among people through sapling distribution, tree planting, and awareness talks by eminent personalities. 2000 saplings were distributed to the guests and the couple planted a sapling in front of the G N R Kalyan Mantap in Jayanagar T Block.

LIFE members participated in distributing the saplings.Tree plantation awareness and donating saplings was the highlight of the program. Any invitees who are leaving the wedding hall volunteers like us were giving a sapling of Honge and explaining its benefits like, less water consuming to grow, low maintenance cost, no fence required as no animals will eat the plant, medium height growing tree, ideal to plant road side, providing fresh oxygen, cool shade.

Scientifically Honge is called as Pongamia pinnata, which is very common in south East Asia. You can see a lot of these trees on inner and outer ring roads of Bangalore.

We experienced variety of people.

Much of the people were surprised with idea but still interested to be part of the green drive. Few were enquiring as flower bearing tree, can they plant in pot,
Usually we were giving one sapling per person and explaining the need of green to live and explaining the planting method and benefits of a sapling.
Few were grabbing 2-3 trees and promised to plant soon.
Few were very intelligent deaf to hear the awareness and running towards the exit!
Children were more enthusiastic in general.
Senior BJP leader and Basanagudi MLA Shri Vijayakumar spoke to the media on the occasion of the Green Wedding of Dayal Bapu B N and Megha H and highlighted the need to build eco-consciousness. The bridegroom's brother, Shri B N Shivashankar is also seen in the picture.
Overall had a satisfaction that I am part of saving earth.

Many of the volunteers were part of the noble cause, and we thank them one and all.
